The encapsulation of thermoplastic inserts in elastomer injection molding is one of SPT’s core technical competencies. By overmolding we combine the best elastic material properties from the cross-linked rubber world with high-quality thermoplastics from the plastic world.
THE PROCESS OF OVERMOLDING:
- We first inject the inserts internally on our horizontal machines and check their quality before further processing.
- In elastomer injection molding, the thermoplastic parts are inserted into the rubber or vulcanization tools either manually or by a robot. The choice of material and the quality of the thermoplastics are very important here, as they must remain dimensionally stable during the injection process and the heating time.
- At the end of the cycle, the rubber-overmolded parts can be demolded and new parts can be inserted.
